  • To provide accurate and timely intelligence to the incident management team from aerial observation.

    AIR OBSERVATION TEAM (CONT. 3)

    FORMAL GRADUATION

    At the completion of the training programme, successful candidates are formally presented with a competency based Certificate of Attainment, and the relevant uniform insignia.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

    General

    • At least five(5) years active fireground experience.
    • Have held operational positions for at least one (1) year.
    • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
    • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to operate in confined spaces within an aircraft.

    Qualifications

    • Senior Firefighters Course or Advanced Firefighter Course.
    • Introduction to the Incident Management Control System (ICS).
    • Advanced radio communication skills.
    • Advanced map reading skills.
    • Senior first aid (Air Observer only).

    If new members are necessary then an invitation will be extended to volunteers within the Bush Fire Brigade organisation to forward such an "expression'. Details are forwarded to all CBFCO for advice to their brigades if vacancies exist.
