Darlington Village Walk Trail

The Darlington History Group developed the Walk Trail in order that local heritage will be better preserved, interpreted and promoted. The History Group welcomes residents and visitors who wish to gain knowledge and an appreciation about Darlington’s early years. The “Tribute to Early Years” feature is especially important as it jointly recognises the Indigenous People who inhabited the wider area for tens of thousands of years and the Settlers who established Darlington after 1883.

There are many dozens of heritage sites, structures, residences and buildings throughout the suburb of Darlington. The Walk Trail includes some 21 of those sites.

Billgoman Well.JPG

Bilgoman Well

The Bilgoman Well Heritage Trail is a 100 metre walking track through bushland to one of Chauncy's wells and the site of an old convict depot.

It was a popular picnic spot up to the 1940s but was gradually forgotten amongst the regrowth of paperbarks, tea trees and bulrushes.

The well was rediscovered in 1979 by members of the Darlington Ratepayers and Residents Association, who restored it as a community bicentennial project.
